Access to workroom and restricted areas is limited to authorized on-duty postal employees and authorized contractors. Anybody else must have legitimate business on the floor and be escorted.
Prevent unauthorized individuals from entering restricted areas. This includes off-duty craft employees. Question anyone who doesn’t have an ID or escort.
Keeping employees, customers, and the mail safe and secure is a USPS priority.
Counseling At Risk Employees — CARE — is designed to engage employees in accident prevention. The program uses accident statistics, root cause analysis and a participant action plan intended to eliminate future accidents. The objective is to reduce employee accidents through discussions, retraining, coaching and recognition of safety hazards.
Implementing CARE will reduce the number of accidents, escalating costs, employee injuries/illnesses and lost productivity by involving employees in safety awareness and accident prevention.

Protect your vision at work — always wear appropriate protective eyewear. If you get something in your eye, avoid rubbing it. Lift the upper eyelid and blink repeatedly to allow tears to flush out the particle. If that doesn’t work, get medical attention. If you get hit in the eye, apply a cold compress to reduce pain and swelling — but be careful not to apply pressure. Visit an eye doctor or emergency department if there’s pain or your sight is affected.
Following safety procedures and knowing emergency eye care can prevent injuries that damage the eye or cause loss of vision.
