Customs Duties

It’s Dutiable on Delivery

Postal Service retail and delivery employees are required to collect customs duties and fees when delivering items that have an attached CBP Form 3419ALT. It’s in a clear plastic envelope with an orange border.
If the package is refused by a customer, or otherwise undeliverable, fill out a PS Form 2933, Register of Uncollected Customs Charges. Submit it to the customs agency. By doing so, the Postal Service won’t be liable for paying these funds.

Following this policy means the Postal Service saves money by not paying customs for uncollected duties and fees, and revenue increases when postal fees are collected.

Keep Good Spending Records

You’re responsible for proper use of your SmartPay2 purchase card. Electronically reconcile and dispute any improper charges. Follow local buying policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate and complete records of all purchase card transactions for three years.
Supporting documentation must provide a clear audit trail to ensure proper use of postal funds and to resolve any disputed charges.

Some accidents happen for a reason.

While an employee may not be at fault, it could very well be a failure of a procedure or an uninspected piece of equipment. Creating an environment where everyone is invested in safety is the best way to prevent workplace hazards.

By making equipment and vehicle checks a part of the daily routine and conducting regular inspections of the work area for often-overlooked hazards, you can help reduce potential accidents and injuries to employees.

The eyes have it.

Protect your vision at work — always wear appropriate protective eyewear. If you get something in your eye, avoid rubbing it. Lift the upper eyelid and blink repeatedly to allow tears to flush out the particle. If that doesn’t work, get medical attention. If you get hit in the eye, apply a cold compress to reduce pain and swelling — but be careful not to apply pressure. Visit an eye doctor or emergency department if there’s pain or your sight is affected.

Following safety procedures and knowing emergency eye care can prevent injuries that damage the eye or cause loss of vision.
