Americans with Disabilities Act

Reasonable Accommodation

If an employee is missing work or having trouble performing work due to a health issue, contact Human Resources or your district or area Reasonable Accommodation Committee. The employee could be entitled to a job adjustment.
Always seek assistance in determining whether a reasonable accommodation is required.

Providing a reasonable accommodation to qualified employees increases productivity.

And that’s smart business.

Learn more about policies regarding reasonable accommodation at Handbook EL-307 Reasonable Accommodation.

Backing accidents

Forward thinking beats backwards driving.

Backing accidents can be prevented. Plan and drive your route to avoid backing whenever possible. Use all mirrors — and make sure they’re adjusted properly. Don’t park in a space from which you have to back out. Always back up slowly because you can’t see everything behind your vehicle. If you have to back, get out and look around to be aware of your surroundings.

Backing safely reduces accidents, injuries and damage to vehicles.

And that’s smart safety!

Hazard information

Keeping you informed keeps you safe.

OSHA requires that you’re told about hazards in your workplace. This information must include a list of hazardous chemicals and safety data sheets that describe the chemicals, possible hazards and ways to protect yourself. Labels on containers must identify and describe chemical hazards. And you must receive training on this program and ways to stay safe.

USPS ensures you have the information you need. For more details, review Management Instruction EL-810-2016-1.

And that’s smart safety!
