Don’t Show Me the Money

The Hatch Act prohibits a Postal Service employee from hosting a political fundraiser, inviting anyone to a political fundraiser, or collecting contributions to a political fundraiser for a partisan political party, candidate, or group.
Don’t engage in partisan political fundraising on or off the clock at work or at home.

Media stories about postal employees violating the Hatch Act undermine the public’s trust and confidence in the Postal Service. Customers ship with us because they trust us. Maintaining the public’s trust is smart business.

Perishable Gifts

Chocolate is not Perishable

If you receive a perishable gift from a postal customer or supplier valued at more than $20.00, you have more choices than just returning it or paying for it.
You may also donate it to an appropriate charity, share it with the office, or destroy it.
A perishable gift is an item that would perish in the process of returning it to the sender.
Flowers or fresh fruit are perishable. Cookies or chocolate (even there’s fruit in it) are not.

Knowing the difference is smart business.

When driving, don’t take your eyes off the road, your hands off the wheel or your mind off your primary task of driving safely. Any non-driving activity you engage in is a potential distraction and increases your risk of being involved in a crash that could kill or injure you or someone else, or cause property damage. No distractions — focus on driving!

And that’s smart safety!

Ready to weather the storm?

Be prepared for weather-related emergencies, including power outages. Stock food that needs no cooking or refrigeration, and keep stored water in clean containers. Make sure your cell phone is fully charged. Keep an up-to-date emergency kit with items such as battery-operated lights and radios, extra batteries, first-aid kit and extra medicine, and baby and pet supplies.

If you’re prepared, you’ll be more likely to stay safe and healthy during an emergency.

And that’s smart safety.
