Perishable Gifts

Chocolate is not Perishable

If you receive a perishable gift from a postal customer or supplier valued at more than $20.00, you have more choices than just returning it or paying for it.
You may also donate it to an appropriate charity, share it with the office, or destroy it.
A perishable gift is an item that would perish in the process of returning it to the sender.
Flowers or fresh fruit are perishable. Cookies or chocolate (even there’s fruit in it) are not.

Knowing the difference is smart business.

Move it!

Thirty minutes of exercise a day. Five days a week. That’s all it takes to significantly improve your metabolism and prevent weight gain. Even if your job is sedentary, there are ways to get some physical activity throughout the day. When you park, pick a spot far away from the entrance. Walk or ride your bike instead of driving. Use the stairs instead of the elevator. Take frequent, short breaks to stretch to get your blood flowing.

A little exercise each day goes a long way toward making you healthier.

And that’s smart safety!

Understand the consequences.

The Postal Service will not tolerate the sale, possession or use of illegal drugs, or abuse of legal drugs, while employees are on duty or on USPS premises. Engaging in such activity could result in firing or criminal prosecution, or both. The future of the Postal Service depends on the quality and character of our employees. It’s critically important to eliminate drug abuse from our workplace.

Did you know:

Employees who frequently use drugs or alcohol tend to miss work or run late more often than non-users.
One in six workplace deaths and one in four workplace injuries involve drugs or alcohol use.
Substance abusers are five times more likely to file workers’ compensation claims.

By promoting a drug-free workplace, USPS keeps employees healthier and more productive.
