Exempt or Non-Exempt?

Know who’s a non-exempt employee under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Non-exempt employees are entitled to overtime pay if they work overtime.
Unauthorized overtime creates liability for the Postal Service.
Use of portable electronics after normal work hours can constitute overtime work.

Reducing overtime saves the Postal Service money. And that’s smart business.

Don’t put sensitive data on any device. Don’t store postal information on non-postal owned devices. Don’t remove information from postal premises without executive approval.

Complying with these security policies will help protect information resources, personal information, and the privacy of employees and customers.

Protecting that information enhances our reputation for integrity and trustworthiness.

Mail Incident Reporting

Don’t shirk the MIRT.

The Mailpiece Incident Report Tool — MIRT — ensures workplace hazards associated with spills and leaks are investigated and tracked. MIRT records mail incidents involving nonmailable items, spill and leak reports related to injuries, illness, significant property damage or disruptions to operations, as well as nonmailable items found in the mail stream. When an incident occurs, the facility manager must ensure a report is completed within 48 hours.

All USPS employees can access MIRT online at https://mirt.usps.gov/Homepage.aspx

Employees can access MIRT under the My Work tab on Blue under the Essential Links and also in the MyHR, Workplace Safety page under MIRT for Managers.

Coexist safely.

Experienced cyclists are ever vigilant for unpredictable behavior on the part of motorists. Drivers need to give cyclists plenty of room. Make eye contact with or nod or wave to cyclists to acknowledge them. Follow the rules of the road and watch out for bike lanes.

Cyclists aren’t surrounded by metal — a collision could result in injury — or death. Be courteous and watch out for the bikes.
