Time is Money

A Postal Service employee must use official time in an honest effort to perform postal duties.
You may not use official time to perform work for an outside employer, even if such work would take a small amount of time
You may not ask a subordinate employee to use official time to perform any activities other than postal work.

Giving the Postal Service an honest day’s work for a day’s pay contributes to our productivity and the bottom line.

And that’s smart business.

Outside Pay for Postal Duties

We’re Paying You For That

A criminal law prohibits a Postal Service employee from receiving compensation from an outside source for doing his or her postal job.
For example, if your job is to give presentations about the Postal Service’s scanning capabilities, you may not accept compensation from a customer for making a presentation about the Postal Service’s scanning capabilities. The Postal Service is already paying you for that.

When you decline payment from an outside source for performing your postal job duties, you maintain the Postal Service’s reputation and avoid criminal liability.

That’s smart business for the Postal Service and for you.

Keep your work area free of clutter. Put everything in its place. Make sure there are no hazards. Keep debris off floors. Clean up and report spills immediately. Stage and stack equipment neatly and keep aisles clear for the movement of employees and equipment. Keep a clear pathway to fire extinguishers, electrical panels and exits.

We often sacrifice sleep, not realizing that sleep is vital to our well-being. It promotes physical health, longevity and emotional well-being. After a good night’s sleep, you feel better, your thoughts and decision making are clearer, and your emotions are less fragile.

Try to get seven to nine hours of sleep each night. Getting sufficient sleep is not a luxury but essential for your health, safety and quality of life.
