Fundraising at Work

The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the only authorized solicitation of Postal Service employees on behalf of charitable organizations in the workplace.
All other types of fundraising for charities at work are prohibited. For example, you cannot sell your daughter’s cookies at work or ask your colleagues to purchase items from you to benefit your place of worship.
Fundraising at work can make coworkers feel coerced to contribute, affect morale, and distract us from the work at hand.

Limiting fundraising to the CFC is the law – and it’s SMART BUSINESS.

Working on an important document at your workstation? Don’t leave it vulnerable to unauthorized access, identity theft or misuse.
Before you leave your workspace, secure sensitive and sensitive-enhanced information. Place documents in a locked desk or file cabinet, in a room with a key or combination or electronic lock, or in an approved media storage area.

Be conscientious in protecting your workstation against theft and misuse.

That’s smart business.

What’s in your caboodle?

Being prepared for an emergency is about staying safe during a disaster. It’s also about how to stay comfortable, clean, fed and healthy afterward. If you lost power, your refrigerator wouldn’t keep foods cold. The microwave couldn’t heat them up. You might not get clean water out of your faucets. How would you find out whether it’s safe to play outside? Not from the TV or computer!

Build an emergency kit before an emergency strikes. Include enough nonperishable food, water, clothing and supplies to last for at least three days.

And that’s smart safety!

Fix your fuzzy focus.

Although looking at a computer monitor won’t damage your eyes, spending much of your workday staring at the screen can cause eyestrain. Eyes can become dry and irritated. You could begin to have trouble focusing. Do you find yourself leaning in to read what’s on the screen? Increase the font size on your computer. And the next time you have your eyes checked, tell your doctor if you spend much of your workday at the computer screen.

Wearing the right glasses and making adjustments to your monitor and workstation will reduce eye strain.

And that’s smart safety!
