Election Mail Measures

The U.S. Postal Service’s number one priority between now and the November election is the secure, timely delivery of the nation’s Election Mail. The Postal Service is committed to fulfilling our role in the electoral process when public policy makers choose to utilize us as a part of their election system.

With Election Day approaching, following the proper procedures and protocols has never been more important.

The Postal Service has also allocated additional resources, including, but not limited to, expanded processing procedures, extra transportation, extra delivery and collection trips, and overtime, to ensure that Election Mail reaches its intended destination in a timely manner.

Additionally, consistent with practices in past election cycles, the use of extraordinary measures beyond the normal course of operations is authorized and expected to be executed by local management between October and November 26 to accelerate the delivery of ballots, when the Postal Service is able to identify the mailpiece as a ballot.

We provide a secure, efficient and effective means to enable citizens to participate in elections.

HCR Contract with a Relative

If the bid’s all in the family, get an ethics ruling.

This applies when a spouse, relative or individual residing with a Postal Service employee submits a bid on a Highway Contract Route contract for transportation or mail delivery.
You need to get prior approval from the Ethics Office before awarding the contract. That’s postal policy. An employee can’t have any authority or control over an HCR contract owned by a spouse, relative or housemate.

When you obtain ethics clearance before awarding an HCR contract to the relative of an employee, you maintain the integrity and reputation of the Postal Service as being fair and honest.

There are wrong ways to get out of a vehicle. Don’t climb down with something in your free hand — put it on the vehicle floor and reach up for it when you get down on the ground. Don’t rush to climb out — get out slowly to avoid straining a muscle. Don’t ever jump out — you might land off balance or on an uneven surface and fall. Don’t use the door frame or door edge as a handhold.

Don’t become an injury statistic. Following these tips will help keep you from a fall that could result in injury and lost work days.
