Prohibited Supplemental Employment – Mail Contract
Beware of this Contract Conflict
It’s unlawful for any postal employee to become interested in any contract for carrying the mail, or to act as an agent — with or without pay — for any contractor or person offering to become a contractor in any business before the Postal Service.
Avoiding conflicting outside employment preserves the Postal Service’s reputation as being fair and honest.
And that’s smart business.
Contact the Ethics Office (ethics.help@usps.gov) for guidance on supplemental employment.
All postal employees, including non-career employees, must receive a general safety and health orientation and sufficient on-the-job training. The training must include site-specific safety rules, specific job safety analyses, required OSHA programs, emergency evacuation procedures and OSHA rights and responsibilities.
This training enables employees to follow safe work practices, recognize hazards and understand the benefits of a safety-focused workplace.
And that’s smart safety!

Too much stress for too long can sometimes lead to depression. It’s a serious illness that involves the body, mood and thoughts. Without proper treatment, symptoms can last for weeks, months or years. Symptoms of depression include:
Persistent sad, anxious or “empty” mood.
Feelings of hopelessness or extreme pessimism.
Feelings of guilt, worthlessness or helplessness.
Loss of interest or pleasure in life.
Less energy, difficulty concentrating and changes in sleeping and eating patterns.
We all have bad days and being a little depressed from time to time is normal. It’s when the feelings persist that should raise concerns. If you experience any of these symptoms for more than a week, talk to your doctor. Medication and/or counseling can effectively treat the problem.
And that’s smart safety!
