The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) could be an option for an employee.

Employees who have a serious health condition may be entitled to leave under FMLA.

Make sure these employees are notified of their FLMA rights. Call the Human Resources Shared Services Center for information.

Complying with FMLA saves the Postal Service time and money.

Encrypt Before You Click

If you need to send a file outside the postal network, protect postal data by using the Enterprise Encryption Service.
When you include the key phrase #sensitive# in the subject line, the Enterprise Encryption Service will intercept the email and encrypt it before sending it on to the recipient. The recipient will be directed to a secured server.

Encrypting postal information protects it from hackers and unauthorized use.

And that’s smart business.

Stick to the facts.

The purpose of an accident investigation is to identify and document the cause so steps can be taken to prevent it from happening again. When an accident occurs, conduct an on-site investigation immediately, secure the accident site and, if necessary, arrange medical care for the injured. Interview employees and witnesses until you have a complete assessment of what happened.

Supervisors must complete an electronic accident report in SHMT (Safety Health Management Tool).

All that glistens is not pavement.

Ice on the road is a real threat when driving in winter, especially black ice. It’s called that because it looks like the rest of the pavement. It’s dangerous because it’s hard to detect in advance. If you hit black ice, don’t slam the brakes and try to keep the steering wheel straight. If you feel the back end of your vehicle sliding left or right, make a very gentle turn of the steering wheel in the same direction.

If you try to struggle against it by steering in the opposite direction, you risk skidding or spinning.

Driving safely on icy road surfaces will help prevent you from being injured and losing work days.
