It’s Not a Gift

Some items are not gifts under the ethics regulations.
Modest food refreshments (soft drinks, coffee, donuts) from an outside source, items of little intrinsic value offered solely for presentation purposes (greeting cards, plaques, certificates, trophies) from an outside source, or anything obtained from a postal contract are not gifts under the ethics regulations.

Complying with the ethics regulations addressing gifts from outside sources increases the public’s confidence in the integrity of the Postal Service as an agency free from bribery and corruption.

And that’s smart business.

It’s the clause that counts.

The Occupational Safety and Health Act’s general duty clause requires employers to provide a workplace that’s free from recognized hazards that could cause death or serious physical harm. OSHA standards are built on this clause and focus on specific workplace hazards and ways to protect employees.

Compliance with OSHA standards helps keep employees safe — and prevents the USPS from having to pay unnecessary fines.

It’s not clear as daylight

Driving in the dark can affect your depth perception, color recognition and peripheral vision. Glare from the headlights of oncoming vehicles can blind you temporarily. Even with your high-beam headlights on, visibility is limited. There’s less time to react to something in the road — especially when driving at higher speeds.

Take extra care when driving at night to avoid accidents.
