Near-miss incidents
That was a close call.
A near-miss accident is an incident that didn’t result in damage, injury or illness but under different circumstances could have. Facilities are required to document close calls by completing an event report in SHMT (Safety and Health Management Tool).
By documenting near misses and conducting inspections into the root causes, USPS can help prevent future accidents, injuries or even a fatality.
