Lease with a Relative
Who’s the Landlord?
- It matters if the owner of a postal facility is a postal employee. It also matters if it’s a spouse, relative or individual living with a postal employee.
- In these cases, the lease must be approved by the Ethics Office. A postal employee can’t have any authority or control over the matter.
When you obtain ethics clearance before entering into a postal lease with an employee or a relative of a postal employee, you maintain the integrity and reputation of the Postal Service as being fair, transparent, and honest.
And that’s smart business.
