Political Bumper Stickers

So Many Bumper Stickers, So Little Time

  • Displaying a partisan political bumper sticker is political activity, but a Postal Service employee may park his or her personal vehicle with one standard size bumper sticker or magnet in a postal lot or garage without violating the Hatch Act.
  • If a Postal Service employee uses his or her personal vehicle for postal business, he or she must cover the partisan political bumper sticker or remove the magnet during the time the vehicle is used for postal business.

A postal parking lot full of vehicles with partisan political bumper stickers may offend some of our customers. Keeping your political views to yourself is smart business.

Contact the Ethics Office (ethics.help@usps.gov) for more information about the Hatch Act.
